Study Trip to Munnar

A study trip to Munnar

On 11th September 2009 the students of XI standard set out for a educational trip to Munnar. It was a well planned programme. The outstanding feature of this trip was an opportunity to observe and learn the tea manufacturing work as well as a visit to Eravikulam National Park.

We commenced our journey at 6.30 am with a prayer. Necessary instructions were given. We were also intimated briefly regarding the purpose of the trip. We started our journey with full justo and had our breakfast near the Neriyamangalam bridge. After the breakfast we traveled towards Valara waterfalls. We spent a few minutes admiring the beauty of the waterfall and after this we proceeded to Kannan Devan Tea factory. We refreshed ourselves with a delicious tea which was provided free of cost. After the tea we were fortunate to watch a documentary film on the history of Munnar and its tea estates. It also depicted very convincingly the technological development that took place in the tea industry in Munnar. An expert from the factory took us around every nook and corner of the factory and explained to us the tea production process in a simple and comprehensive manner. We also had an opportunity to purchase a variety of tea products, after this we had our lunch. We had a very tasty chicken biriyani. After the lunch we journeyed towards the well known Eravikulam National Park. This national park is a hot destination of tourists who come to God’s own country. The specialty of this national park is that Varayad C. (mountain goats) are found in galare. We were also seen this particular animal for the first time in our life. We also had an enjoyable and memorable mountain treakking. We were really fascinated by the cleanliness of the park. We were really castionished to note that the entire national park is completely plastic free. After this we went to Mattupetty Dam. We reached the dam at 5pm. and we went around enjoying. We also had a small shopping of traditional Kerala handicrafts. We also had our tea from there. At 6.30 pm we started our journey back. On the way back we stopped at Adimali to have our dinner. We reached home at 11 pm.

It was truly a learning experience. We had a tangible experience of what we learn in our class rooms. It was a novel attempt from the school management we whole heartedly congratulated everyone especially various committees such as GM, DGM, Food, Medial and Cultural Committee who made this day an unforgettable experience.
